No, it wasn’t the cast of Con Air 2. It was my friends
and
I, chatting over a chilli con carne and a glass of red, wondering
how the hell we were ever going to get back to the lives
we’d
been forced to leave behind.
We weren’t criminals. Well, not calculating ones anyway.
Ok, so there was the small matter of my boyfriend’s
ex lying dead
on her kitchen floor. There was the fact that I’d fled
the scene,
leaving her in a pool of her own blood, and, assisted by
my best
mate Rocco, we’d fled the country. There was the tiny
issue of
the enraged pimp at the door, demanding compensation for
the
hooker Mike had knocked up whilst utilising her services.
There
was the minor irritation of the paparazzi journalist, desperate
for snaps of the knife wielding leader of the Roma Ultras,
who
just happened to be sitting beside me.
But there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation. Honest…
